Proheart vaccinations aim to prevent infection of heartworms. Heartworms are a parasitic roundworm who inhabit the heart, lungs and associated vessels, and are spread through mosquito bites. The vaccine is required annually and are to be given if you are not currently using an oral preventative such as nexgard spectra, simparica, comfortis plus or advocate.
