vaccination and heartworm

 The first vaccination for your puppy or kitten is an opportunity to find out more about all aspects of your new baby's health care. The vet/nurse team will run through parasite control, feeding, socialisation and any other questions you may have. The vaccinations used will give your pet the best start to their lives preventing a number of serious diseases. A comprehensive health check and preventative vaccination.  

Most dogs will receive a C5 vaccination which provides protection from 5 canine diseases: 

• Parvovirus 
• Distemper
• Hepatitis 
• Parainfluenza (kennel cough)
• Bordatella (kennel cough)

We stock a combination of vaccines which can tailor your puppy/dogs vaccination needs to whatever protocol they may be on from their previous vet. 

A comprehensive health check and preventative vaccination.  

The protocol for cats is dependent on lifestyle. For indoor cats most will only require an F3 vaccine which includes:

• Feline Herpesvirus Virus (FHV-1)
• Feline Panleucopenia (FPV)
• Feline Calicivirus (FCV)

For cats with non-supervised outside time, we recommend they also receive vaccination for feline AIDS which is a disease transmitted between cats from fighting. 

• Feline Immundeficiency Virus (FIV)

An additional preventative vaccination for dogs. 

Proheart vaccinations aim to prevent infection of heartworms. Heartworms are a parasitic roundworm who inhabit the heart, lungs and associated vessels, and are spread through mosquito bites. The vaccine is required annually and are to be given if you are not currently using an oral preventative such as nexgard spectra, simparica, comfortis plus or advocate.
