Desexing is a surgical procedure which prevents breeding in both male and females. Pet desexing is a safe and effective way to improve the health and wellbeing of pets while also reducing the risk of overpopulation and certain behavioral problems.
At Vets in Zillmere, we desex both dogs and cats in a day procedure. Your pet is admitted to the clinic in the morning and will he home by late afternoon. Desexing includes IV fluids during the procedure, post operative pain relief, an Elizabethan collar to take home and post op check(s). We have facilities inhouse to run blood tests to check health prior to surgery, this test called a 'pre-anaesthetic blood test' is recommended at an additional charge. Recovery time varies but despite a likely quick bounce back its very important to keep our pet quiet for 10 days post operatively.
AGE OF DESEXING
Appropriate age for desexing: Please contact us to discuss the best age for your pet to get them desexed. It is not a one size fits all approach and many factors are involved.
We take pride in ensuring your pet has the safest and most comfortable surgery and recovery period. At Vets in Zillmere, this list is standard with all desexing procedures:
